Adjournment
Southern Metropolitan Region
David DAVIS (Southern Metropolitan) (13:12): (2436) My constituency question is for the Minister for Police, whoever that currently might be. In my electorate of Southern Metro, in the Bentleigh area, there has been an incident; it appears to me to be a racist incident, but obviously that is a matter for close police investigation. A teen was visiting homes and businesses when he approached another man and asked if he happened to be Jewish. He said at first he was told, ‘Eff off and stop bothering me,’ and the man continued to watch him from a distance. He then alleged the man returned holding a knife and told him he was – I will not repeat the words – bothering people and he was going to kill him. This is clearly completely unacceptable, racially based violence, and I ask the Minister for Police to give a report to the chamber so that we know exactly what happened here. Will charges be laid?
