Pakenham electorate
Emma VULIN (Pakenham) (14:43): (319) My question is for the Minister for Education. How many free meals have been provided to students in the Pakenham district as part of the school breakfast club program? I recently visited Officer Secondary College with our Treasurer, and we were asked by students, ‘What are some of the things that the state government are doing to alleviate cost-of-living pressures?’ We explained to them that the breakfast available to them in the mornings was an Andrews Labor government initiative. The program commenced in 2016 to help more students get the most from their day of learning by providing a healthy, nutritious meal and was recently funded for another four years in this year’s budget. For many in my electorate this is vital support to assist students in getting the most out of their education. Every child deserves access to quality and nutritious food to start their school day. I look forward to hearing how many students have benefited from this program.
