Werribee Park Heritage Orchard
Mathew HILAKARI (Point Cook) (09:54): I will talk about the Werribee Park Heritage Orchard today, which I recently attended with volunteers who are restoring and preserving the orchard on the river flat at Werribee Park Mansion. It was so nice to see the blossoms coming out on the early varieties. There are over 450 varieties there of plants and fruits, including 74 peach varieties, 82 plum varieties, 54 cherry varieties and 58 apple varieties. Of course it is important to preserve all these varieties because they may become the future thing on your shelf, but even better, you can taste them and eat them there at Werribee Park mansion. They had a terrific day at the heritage fruit tree festival on the 13th.
