Belinda WILSON (Narre Warren North) (10:00): I rise today to celebrate and acknowledge the vibrant spirit of local AFL and netball clubs. I attended numerous events at different football clubs in my electorate on the weekend, and the sense of community was amazing. On Saturday I went to the Hallam Hawks football and netball club’s ladies day, so thanks to Paris and the girls for looking after me. A huge congratulations to Amy, Casey and Jaymee for making the women’s division 2 team of the year and to coach Dean for being named the assistant coach. A massive congratulations to all the teams who played at the weekend, particularly to the Hallam Hawks B grade netballers for securing the win for the last round of the season.

I also dropped in to the Narre Warren Football Netball Club, where I watched the A grade netball and the senior men’s and I bought some cupcakes from the stall, which were very, very nice. A huge congratulations to Kate Dowling, who celebrated her 300th netball game, the first in the history of the club. On Sunday I headed down to the Endeavour Hills Senior Football Club, who were hosting the southern league women’s grand final. Rex and the team did an amazing job on the barbecue and a very, very busy canteen, where I did have some steamed dim sims. Hats off to the Casey Thunder for taking home the flag against Narre South Saints. Good luck to both Endeavour Hills footy club and Narre Warren Football Netball Club for all the finals this weekend. I am proud to represent an electorate that has amazing local football and netball teams, and I know firsthand how important these local clubs are to our community.
