Banchory Green Reserve, Hillside

Natalie HUTCHINS (Sydenham – Minister for Education, Minister for Women) (09:45): I rise to share exciting news on the Andrews Labor government’s investment in the growing western suburbs. Last week I represented the Minister for Suburban Development to officially open the Banchory Green reserve upgrade in my electorate of Sydenham. It was a fantastic celebration, and the opening was attended by many young families who were really enjoying the newly vitalised space. The reserve now has new play equipment for all ages and abilities, accessible and connected footpaths and, most importantly, fencing. New grass surfaces are also being put in place for the next generation of our budding new Matildas. Increased urban tree canopy is also being placed. I am so proud to say this government invested $352,000 from the Growing Suburbs Fund, which was matched by Melton City Council. Since 2015 the fund has provided Melton City Council with more than $47 million to deliver 42 projects. Local residents deserve appropriate facilities to meet their growing needs and their growing families. Congratulations to everyone involved.
