Mr Steve Dimopoulos
Meet Steve
Prior to entering Parliament, Steve ran a local café in Oakleigh, worked in the Department of Justice and at the Victorian Multicultural Commission, served as a councillor and mayor in the City of Monash, and worked for the former federal member for Hotham, Hon. Dr Simon Crean AC.
Steve's leadership in local community campaigns drew him into politics, where he believes government can help people create better lives for themselves. Through his local activism, Steve knows the value that government can play in bringing together vibrant and inclusive local communities.
As the member for Oakleigh since 2014, Steve has prioritised the improvement of public infrastructure and policy in our education, health, housing, and transport systems to address disadvantage and ensure that everyone has the best chance in life.
As Minister for Economic Growth and Jobs, and Minister for Sport and Major Events, Steve's vision for Victoria is to strengthen the economy and create more jobs for workers and their families, and to ensure Victoria remains the sporting and major events capital of Australia and a global leader.
