David DAVIS (Southern Metropolitan) (12:43): (2643) My matter is for the minister for industry in the first instance, but it is a matter of very great interest to the Minister for Energy and Resources. I am in possession of correspondence between a firm that is very closely aligned with my electorate and the Eco Pacific group and correspondence from the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions. The government’s changes of policy on gas appliances mean this gas appliance manufacturer – which services the southern suburbs of Melbourne, including through my electorate in particular, and is a major manufacturer in our state – has been clobbered and now has business debts that actually do not deal with the outcomes of the government’s own decisions, which have left it and its investments high and dry, as the government has put in place gas bans that mean people cannot supply the appliances that this firm makes. I would seek an intervention from the minister to ensure that they get a proper hearing for a loan.
