Constituency questions
South-Eastern Metropolitan Region
Michael GALEA (South-Eastern Metropolitan) (12:39): (2639) My question is for the Minister for Roads and Road Safety, and it is on behalf of many people I have spoken to, both residents and business owners, on the south side of Berwick, concerning some of the major road upgrades currently occurring in the area. I have spoken to several traders in the Eden Rise shopping centre who are thrilled that the Clyde Road upgrade – a major upgrade to an essential road in the south-east of Melbourne, upgrading the interchange with the Princes Freeway – is to be finished ahead of time, with the project now to be completed in October, seven months ahead of schedule. This is going to be a great boon for the traders in the Eden Rise and surrounding areas. They will also be very pleased to know that the Thompsons Road intersection upgrade is also well on track, with the lights to be switched on in just two days time. The question that I ask the minister is: how will these important and vital upgrades being delivered by the Labor government support my constituents in Berwick and surrounding areas?
