Constituency questions

Eastern Victoria Region

Jeff BOURMAN

Eastern Victoria Region

Jeff BOURMAN (Eastern Victoria) (12:56): (2514) My question is for the Minister for Health. Minister, my constituent is the mother of a child with special needs and a sole trader. She has been hospitalised four times in recent years with kidney issues, with each hospitalisation affecting not only her health but her ability to work and care for her family. She has now been referred urgently to a urologist and was initially told by the hospital that she would be seen within 30 days. However, a subsequent letter from Monash Health confirms that her referral is classified as urgent, while also advising that nine out of 10 patients in that category are seen within 543 days. Minister, 543 days does not sound particularly urgent. Will you work with my constituent and Monash Health to ensure that she receives the urgent specialist appointment her doctors say she needs?

Sitting suspended 12:57 pm until 2:02 pm.
