Michael GALEA (South-Eastern Metropolitan) (12:47): (2506) I am very delighted today to see a significant announcement by Minister for Police Paul Edbrooke and Premier Ben Carroll for the continued expansion of PSOs right across Victoria. Indeed it is particularly good, having seen the success of Operation Pulse with extra PSOs and Victoria Police members in Fountain Gate and Bayside shopping centres, to see that extended for at least another year. This is a government that is focused on community safety, responding to the genuine concerns of the community and providing safety and assurance as well as stronger new legislation, such as we will be debating next sitting week in this place. So my question is for the Minister for Police, and I ask what difference the PSO program and Operation Pulse continuing in Fountain Gate and Bayside shopping centres will make to the south-east of Melbourne.
