Constituency questions

Northern Metropolitan Region

Evan MULHOLLAND

Northern Metropolitan Region

Evan MULHOLLAND (Northern Metropolitan) (12:50): (2509) My constituency question is to the Minister for Roads and Road Safety Pothole Paul, and it concerns the VicRoads collaboration with Moonee Valley council to reduce speed limits within the Union Road precinct in Ascot Vale. A recent Moonee Valley council meeting considered recommendations of reduced speed limits from 50 kilometres to 40 kilometres and even 30 kilometres within the precinct. Residents in Ascot Vale and surrounding suburbs want to be able to get to places safely but efficiently, without unnecessarily slow speed limits. We have also seen that 46 per cent of respondents to the draft traffic management plan online survey were opposed to the plan, with only 30 per cent being in favour. Our amazing Liberal candidate for Essendon Tommy Le Deux understands this and continues to fight on behalf of his residents to be heard. My question to the minister is: will you intervene with VicRoads to reverse this disruptive change for the people of Ascot Vale?
