Constituency questions

Northern Victoria Region

Georgie PURCELL

Northern Victoria Region

Georgie PURCELL (Northern Victoria) (12:49): (2508) My question is for the Minister for Roads and Road Safety. The 2025 Victorian parliamentary inquiry into wildlife road strike made 18 recommendations to address wildlife vehicle collisions, including improving data collection and trialling more effective road strike mitigation measures. Macedon Ranges Shire Council has identified wildlife road strike as a critical public safety and wildlife protection issue, with the region recording the highest rate of wildlife road strike in Victoria by a significant margin. The council has developed a half-a-million-dollar wildlife road strike reduction project to identify wildlife road strike hotspots and trial targeted interventions, including dynamic signage, wildlife recognition cameras and wildlife crossings in partnership with wildlife organisations and road managers. Will the minister commit to working with Macedon Ranges Shire Council to support and fund its wildlife road strike reduction report and progress the recommendations of the parliamentary inquiry into wildlife road strike?
