Constituency questions

Northern Metropolitan Region

Evan MULHOLLAND

Northern Metropolitan Region

Evan MULHOLLAND (Northern Metropolitan) (13:02): (2527) My constituency question is to Labor’s latest Minister for Roads and Road Safety, and it is on my favourite topic of Donnybrook Road. I ask the Minister for Roads and Road Safety what action the Andrews–Allan–Carroll Labor government will take to finally duplicate Donnybrook Road for good, given that 35,000 vehicles now use a road designed for approximately 20,000 vehicles, causing severe congestion delays for residents of Donnybrook, Kalkallo, Mickleham and surrounding communities. Residents report waiting more than 40 minutes just to exit their housing estate, which impacts on their families and daily lives. But not all is lost. The Liberals and Nationals have committed $524 million to duplicating Donnybrook Road for good from Epping Road in Woodstock to Dwyer Street in Kalkallo, and only Amanda Dow, the Liberal candidate for Yan Yean, will deliver it. Will the minister match the Liberals’ fantastic commitment?
