Wendy LOVELL (Northern Victoria) (13:00): (2525) My question is for the Premier. Why has Labor cancelled the opening of a kindergarten at Kialla West Primary School for the second year in a row, and when will construction finally begin and the kinder finally open? In 2024 the government announced a new kinder would be opened on the site of Kialla West Primary School in term 1 of 2026. That start date was cancelled just months before the kinder was due to open and parents were told the kinder would instead open in term 1 2027, but that opening date has also been cancelled. Both years those announcements have come after first-round offers, leaving parents scrambling to find a new kinder place for a second year in a row. Current Premier Ben Carroll was Minister for Education from 2023 until this month. During that time he had oversight of the Victorian School Building Authority when it failed to start construction of the promised kindergarten at Kialla West Primary School. If Premier Ben Carroll and this government cannot deliver a kindergarten on time, then Labor cannot be trusted to fix Victoria.
