Constituency questions

Southern Metropolitan Region

Katherine COPSEY

Southern Metropolitan Region

Katherine COPSEY (Southern Metropolitan) (12:51): (2517) My question is to the Minister for Education. The Caulfield Primary School community in my electorate has contacted me regarding the school’s urgent infrastructure needs. The school has grown significantly over the last decade and now has more than 300 students, yet its facilities have not kept pace with that growth. The school community is particularly concerned about a hall that can no longer accommodate the whole school, meaning that assemblies, sporting activities and community events are often held outdoors or disrupted by poor weather. They have also raised concerns about ageing toilet facilities that are no longer fit for purpose, with inadequate capacity, deteriorating infrastructure and ongoing maintenance issues. Parents and staff are concerned that these longstanding infrastructure issues are affecting students’ wellbeing, learning and ability to participate fully in school life. Minister, will the government provide funding to upgrade these facilities and ensure Caulfield Primary School has the infrastructure its students and community need?
