Constituency questions

North-Eastern Metropolitan Region

Richard WELCH

North-Eastern Metropolitan Region

Richard WELCH (North-Eastern Metropolitan) (12:58): (2523) My constituency question is for the Minister for Public Transport. In March I raised that community advocacy groups in the seat of Bundoora have come to me raising their concern about the inadequate disability access at Watsonia train station. In June the then minister provided a very lacklustre response, informing me that upgrade plans were being reviewed, but as we stand, nothing has changed and the station is simply uncompliant. In fact it is worse than that; it is actually dangerous for those with wheelchairs. Thankfully, the very hardworking Liberal candidate for Bundoora Chris Parr has been meeting with constituents and time and again pressing this issue and urging us to address it more. Will the minister guarantee a timely installation of fit-for-purpose upgrades to disability access at the Watsonia train station?
