Constituency questions

South-Eastern Metropolitan Region

Ann-Marie HERMANS

South-Eastern Metropolitan Region

Ann-Marie HERMANS (South-Eastern Metropolitan) (13:03): (2620) My question is to the Minister for Small and Family Business. This Labor government is failing small businesses. A constituent of mine who runs a small store contacted me explaining how they are struggling to survive due to extremely high rent, wages, taxes, insurance and bills. But it is the out-of-control crime in this state, especially youth crime, that is pushing them over the limit. The constituent explained how they have had their store broken into and money stolen and customers who have run away without paying. For a small business every dollar and every crime is a huge hit that is difficult to recover from. They have said:

Please listen to the voices of small business owners … We are exhausted, frightened and struggling to keep going.

Please help us.

Minister, Jess Wilson’s team has a plan. The Liberals and Nationals have a plan to get things back on track. But when will you get youth crime under control in this state, and what meaningful action will you take to protect our small businesses?
