Constituency questions

Western Metropolitan Region

Trung LUU

Western Metropolitan Region

Trung LUU (Western Metropolitan) (12:56): (2614) My question is for the Minister for Health. Infusion centres across Victoria that provide biologic treatments are operating beyond capacity. Despite the opening of a new infusion centre at the new Footscray Hospital in my electorate of Western Metro Region, it is reportedly functioning at only about 50 per cent capacity due to a staffing shortage and lack of funding for additional staff. As a result, patients in my electorate commencing biologic therapies are experiencing treatment delays of between six and eight weeks, potentially impacting their health outcomes and quality of life. My question asks the minister to update my constituents. What is the Carroll Labor government doing to address the shortfall in infusion centre capacity and to fully utilise the new Footscray Hospital infusion centre and reduce waiting times for patients requiring biologic treatment?
