Constituency questions

Northern Metropolitan Region

Anasina GRAY-BARBERIO

Northern Metropolitan Region

Anasina GRAY-BARBERIO (Northern Metropolitan) (13:02): (2619) My constituency question is for the Minister for Public Transport. Minister, Broadmeadows train station is rated the fifth worst train station in Melbourne’s public transport network. The accessibility ramps do not meet current standards, once again letting down my constituents with disability and mobility aids. Broadmeadows was my train station growing up, taking me to school, work and connecting me to the rest of Melbourne, and yet it has not changed much at all since the early 2000s. It was also where I had to sprint through the tunnel because it had such poor lighting that, as a young woman at night-time, you had no choice but to actually do this just to get to the other side of the tracks. To this day it still looks the same. Minister, our Greens Broadmeadows candidate Maryam Nasim and I join the cause of the Broadmeadows constituents in asking: when will you finally modernise this ageing, substandard train station and make it the integrated transport hub it has the potential to be?
