Trung Luu Award for Academic Achievement and Inspiration

Trung LUU (Western Metropolitan) (10:04): It is the time of year when thousands of young Victorians are preparing for the end-of-year examination assessments that may shape their future pathway. One of the greatest privileges of serving in this Parliament has been meeting young people who demonstrate academic excellence, resilience, leadership, service and consideration for others. While many of these students work quietly behind the scenes overcoming challenges and striving to be the best version of themselves, their achievements deserve recognition. That is why I have established the Trung Luu Award for Academic Achievement and Inspiration – to celebrate young Victorians whose commitment and character make a difference in their communities. Over the past four years these awards have recognised hundreds of students, not only for academic success but also for the values that strengthen their communities and inspire others. Over recent weeks I have had the privilege and pleasure to start to present the 2026 awards to year 11 and year 12 students at Homestead Senior Secondary College in Point Cook – thanks to Raja Reddy, who is standing for Point Cook, for his assistance; at Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School in Keilor – thank you to Samantha Byrne for her assistance; and at Salesian College Sunbury – thank you, Simmone Cottom, for your assistance. I look forward to meeting up with students at Suzanne Cory in Werribee tomorrow and Rosehill college in Niddrie – (Time expired)
