State election

Gaelle BROAD (Northern Victoria) (10:06): I am grateful to be part of the Nationals team, a team of hardworking people with real-life experience who are committed to serving their local communities and delivering a fair share for regional Victoria. We are ready to get on with the job of a strong and stable government with a positive plan focused on regional Victoria. We will make sure Victoria is open for business again, lowering the cost of employing people, reducing Labor’s tax burden and fast-tracking permits and licences for businesses. The Nationals will fix our roads, investing $5 billion to repair and rebuild our state road network, plus $288 million for local country roads and bridges. The Nationals will tackle crime with 3000 additional police, tougher bail and sentencing laws and consequences for repeat offenders. The Nationals will rebuild regional health care, attracting more doctors, nurses, midwives and allied health professionals and getting mental health reform back on track. We will abolish stamp duty for first home buyers on properties up to $1 million and unlock more land so people and families have a better opportunity to buy or build their home and renters have more affordable choice. We will ease the cost of living, scrapping Labor’s emergency services tax and unlocking our conventional gas reserves to deliver affordable and reliable energy to keep our power bills down. We will upgrade schools and invest in public transport, and through the Nationals fair share guarantee, regional Victoria will finally get the 25 per cent of new infrastructure investment that we deserve.
