 John BERGER (Southern Metropolitan) (00:00): (2670) My adjournment matter is for the Minister for Major Events in the other place. Sports fans across my constituency are excited for Australia’s first-ever regular season NFL game, which will be played at the MCG in September. This is great for Melburnians who might be interested in attending a game of American football, whether as interested locals, overseas fans or American expats. It is also great news for our tourism industry, and it will bring people from all across the country down to Melbourne for the weekend. It is not an accident that Melbourne is the major events capital of Australia. It is a status that we continue to carry as a result of the hard work of this Labor government. The action that I seek is for the minister to provide me an update on how much of an economic boost this event is expected to provide for Melbourne.
