 Bev McARTHUR (Western Victoria) (14:16): (2483) My question is to the Minister for Roads and Road Safety. A young woman from a farming family in my electorate was refused her test at Ararat because the family’s manual ute was registered under the primary producer concession. She lost her test fee. The concession requires the vehicle to be used solely in the primary production business, and VicRoads apparently treats a licence test as outside that use. The result seems absurd. She cannot use the very vehicle she needs a manual licence to drive for farm work. What is her family supposed to do – buy and register another manual vehicle merely so she can sit the test? Passing in an automatic would restrict her to automatic vehicles. VicRoads’ test-booking site unfairly fails to warn about this. Will the minister refund her fee and allow primary producer vehicles to be used for licence tests?
