 Aiv PUGLIELLI (North-Eastern Metropolitan) (14:04): (2472) My question today is to the new Minister for Public Transport, who is also the member for Eltham. As you will be aware, Minister, the community in Eltham North have been advocating strongly for a safe pedestrian crossing at Coolabah Reserve. I have raised this before. This is currently a dusty track crossing the train line. People were shocked to find that instead of better access, they were last week greeted by more restrictions in the form of a fence blocking access. I know we want people to be safe and to use a proper pedestrian crossing. That is exactly what the community is asking for at this site. The fence did not stop people crossing. In fact it was damaged the very first day, potentially from someone using it as a handrail while the concrete was wet. Minister, the community have been clear: they need to cross the rail tracks at this point. It is an important thoroughfare. I have raised it before. The community have asked it of you themselves. Will you now commit to building a proper, safe pedestrian crossing at Coolabah Reserve?
