Adjournment

Clyde Road, Berwick, pedestrian infrastructure

Mr RICH-PHILLIPS

Clyde Road, Berwick, pedestrian infrastructure

Mr RICH-PHILLIPS (South Eastern Metropolitan) (14:18): (1514) I raise a matter this afternoon for the attention of the Minister for Roads and Road Safety in the other place, and it relates to the provision of pedestrian access along Clyde Road in Berwick South. I have received representations from constituents regarding the need for the construction of a footpath on the western side of Clyde Road between Moondarra Drive and Glasscocks Road. This is an area which has some open space and some water features, but it does not have a complete footpath between those two intersections. Also lacking on Clyde Road at the Moondarra Drive intersection is a pedestrian crossing on the north side of that intersection. There are pedestrian crossings on the other three sides of the Moondarra Drive–Clyde Road intersection, but not on the north side, which means people wanting to cross east to west often have to cross two crossings rather than a single crossing because of the absence of a crossing on the north side.

In order to provide the connectivity that my constituents in Berwick South require, I ask the minister for roads to ensure that a footpath is constructed on the west side of Clyde Road between Moondarra Drive and Glasscocks Road and that a pedestrian crossing is constructed at the Moondarra Drive intersection, on the north side. This is a matter which has been bouncing back and forth with the City of Casey. It is very clear that this is a VicRoads road and that it falls within the jurisdiction of the Victorian government, and I call on the minister to ensure that these works are completed so that my constituents can have pedestrian access along Clyde Road.
