Mental health funding
Incorporated pursuant to order of Council of 7 September:
I rise today to recognise and thank everyone who is continuing to work so hard to provide support and care for those across Eastern Victoria who are struggling with their mental health and wellbeing as a consequence of the pandemic. It is so important that we properly resource the many local organisations that are assisting people in need, and to that end, I’m glad to see that on top of the $225 million that has been allocated to mental health support during the pandemic, the extra $13 million for pop-up services will enable clients, consumers and patients to get better access to care across Gippsland via Latrobe Regional Hospital. We are absolutely determined to not only implement every single recommendation from the mental health royal commission to fix our broken system, but also to provide the mental health funding and workforce support that is needed as pandemic recovery efforts continue.
