AFL Grand Final
Dr CUMMING (Western Metropolitan) (09:10): Today I speak about the AFL Grand Final. My beloved Bulldogs will play the Demons in the grand final, and you could not ask for a better match—two teams that have certainly had their hard times. For the Demons it will be their first minor premiership in 57 years. The Bulldogs supporters can understand this; before their grand final win in 2016 they had had 62 years of premiership drought. And while the Bulldogs supporters may understand this, I am sure that all of them, just like me, are hoping that the grand final will be a replay of 1954. In 1954 the Bulldogs defeated the Demons in the grand final 102 to 51.
Unfortunately none of us will be able to be at the game, as the grand final has moved to Perth. Apparently two Melbourne teams cannot play in an outdoor stadium in Melbourne, even with social distancing and a COVID-safe plan in place. So for what looks like being the greatest grand final in nearly 60 years, we will be sitting at home without our friends and our family, cheering them on. So go the Bulldogs, go the Doggies. Doggie, Doggie, Doggies; woof, woof, woof!
