Tim READ (Brunswick) (14:41): (1644) My question is for the Minister for Transport Infrastructure. Tram stops on Sydney Road in my electorate north of Brunswick Road are not accessible for wheelchairs, despite years of advocacy from residents, particularly the Sydney Road Accessible Tram Stops Campaign. This excludes people with disability, parents with prams, elderly individuals and others and instead forces them to rely on the Upfield train line, which will be closed in 2028 during the Brunswick level crossing removal project. I welcome this year’s budget funding planning for level-access stops on Sydney Road, but I note that a similar announcement for route 86 trams along Gertrude and Smith streets, made nearly four years ago, has not yet resulted in any new tram stops. When will Sydney Road actually get accessible tram stops?
