Volunteers
Luba GRIGOROVITCH (Kororoit – Minister for Youth, Minister for Carers and Volunteers) (10:13): Today I rise to acknowledge and thank the incredible volunteers across Victoria, whose compassion, generosity and dedication continue to strengthen our community every single day. Over recent weeks I have had the privilege of visiting local organisations which are powered by volunteers and support people facing hardship, food insecurity and social isolation. These visits reminded me that some of the most important work in our community is being led, both quietly and selflessly, by volunteers.
I recently visited the Hub at INChurch led by pastor Craig Maher, where volunteers work tirelessly to provide food relief, support and a welcoming environment for local families and individuals in need. I also want to recognise the outstanding work of the western Islamic network, whose volunteers come together every Friday night to serve a hot meal to those in need and support vulnerable members of our community with compassion, kindness and care.
Behind every meal served, every donation packed and every conversation shared is a volunteer choosing to make someone else’s life just that little bit easier. Volunteers are the backbone of our communities. They give their time not for recognition or reward but because they genuinely care about helping others and strengthening the community around them. To every volunteer across Victoria: I want to thank you. Thank you for your kindness. Thank you for your compassion. Thank you for your unwavering commitment to helping others. Our community is stronger, kinder and more connected because of you.
