Melissa HORNE (Williamstown – Minister for Ports and Freight, Minister for Health Infrastructure, Minister for Prevention of Family Violence) (09:59): Firstly, I want to congratulate Terry Awad on her first gallery exhibition at the South Kingsville Community Centre last month. At the age of 75 Terry had her first painting exhibition. She is an emerging artist, and her work is an inspiration to all. Also at the start of this month I held a women’s health forum at the Louis Joel Arts and Community centre. Thanks very much to the member for Northcote Kat Theophanous, the Parliamentary Secretary for Women’s Health, who opened the forum and shared such insight into Victoria’s inquiry into women’s pain, which last year taught us that the health challenges women face are unique and more work needs to be done. It was really interesting listening to key women community leaders talk about the industry and their experiences. Thank you to Catherine Langford and Gracy Wu from BreastScreen Victoria, Justine Brogna from TreeHaus, Kristy Fennessy from Western Health, Dr Liz and Louise from Thrive 26, Amanda Thompson from Endurance Financial and Rosie Camilleri from the Orange Door.
I am also pleased to have secured $85,000 in the budget for Downer Oval in Williamstown to go towards new lighting for the Williamstown Cricket Club. Cam Smith, who has been a passionate and tireless advocate for this project, was so delighted when I rang and shared the news with him. Thank you, Cam and the club, for all your advocacy.
