Martha HAYLETT (Ripon) (14:36): (1639) My question is to the Minister for Environment. Minister, what steps is the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action taking to clear up the Creswick Creek? The creek runs through the heart of our town and has a long history of flooding, most recently in February 2022. Today it remains choked with gorse, blackberry and dense overgrowth, limiting not only its environmental health but its potential as a real asset to our community. In recent months locals have begun cleaning up the creek themselves. The Creswick Anglers Club, working alongside the North Central Catchment Management Authority, has started working bees by Ring Road to clear the gorse. I want to thank David McPhee, Dave Voigt, Alison Birch, Sophie Ellis, Tom Quinn and all the volunteers who have helped. But they should not have to do this alone. I am eager to confirm what long-term action the department is taking to address the condition of the Creswick Creek into the future.
