Education system

John BERGER (Southern Metropolitan) (18:23): (2655) My adjournment matter is for the Minister for Education in the other place. This Labor government is investing in Victoria’s education system to make it the Education State. An important part of the goal of making Victoria the Education State is ensuring that all children, no matter their background or diversities, have equal access to education. That is why in the 2022–23 Victorian budget millions of dollars were invested into specialist autism schools across the state. This included into the Giant Steps school in Kew, which in the most recent round of funding received over $1.7 million to help build a much-needed renovation for the school. This school serves many members of the community that I represent, and I am glad to see them getting the funding they deserve. The action that I seek is for the minister to provide me an update on how investments in schools like Giant Steps improve outcomes for constituents in my electorate of Southern Metro.
