Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre

Gayle TIERNEY (Western Victoria) (09:44): Since we last sat as a Parliament, during the winter break, we had the official opening of Nyaal Banyul in Geelong, the convention and event centre. This is a significant milestone for Geelong and for regional Victoria. Delivered through the Geelong City Deal, extensively funded by the state Labor government and the Australian government, Nyaal Banyul is a project that reflects the confidence we have in Geelong’s future. Nyaal Banyul has created jobs and supported local businesses and provides opportunities for skilled tradespeople and apprentices. It is already providing a great boost to the region’s hospitality and tourism sectors, delivering lasting economic benefits for our region. As the largest convention centre in regional Victoria, Nyaal Banyul is already attracting conferences, exhibitions and major events from right across Australia and indeed from overseas. More visitors to Geelong mean more opportunities for local businesses and more tourists travelling along the Great Ocean Road and enjoying our region. Nyaal Banyul is an important addition to Geelong’s waterfront and another example of the Victorian Labor government investing in regional communities, creating local jobs and supporting economic growth for years to come.
