 Rikkie-Lee TYRRELL (Northern Victoria) (14:49): (2462) My constituency question is for the Minister for Housing and Building. My constituents ask when the guidelines and definitions surrounding glamping regulations will be updated. In 2023 the Labor government made a commitment to Caravan and Residential Parks Victoria to update the guidelines and the definition of ‘glamping’ in caravan park regulations, a commitment that has not been honoured. Victoria is losing its competitive edge to New South Wales, South Australia, Queensland, Western Australia and Tasmania in the glamping sector due to regulatory hold-ups. Parks have lost revenue of up to $450,000 per season in some cases. An industry provider brought over from Europe to establish a manufacturing industry for glamping products in the state has faced regulatory burdens. They are now manufacturing for interstate tourist parks and considering moving their operations interstate. Victoria is the only state where glamping tents do not have a definition in our caravan park regulations, and some LGAs have prohibited their construction. Councils default to classifying glamping tents as buildings, making compliance within caravan parks impossible, and tens of millions of dollars worth of investment, jobs and regional –
