Coalition election commitments

Gaelle BROAD (Northern Victoria) (09:50): The next state election is in November. A Liberal and Nationals government will stop the corruption, end the waste and restore integrity and accountability to government. We will deliver a fair-share guarantee, allocating at least 25 per cent of new infrastructure spending to regional Victoria to invest in the education and health services and transport and local infrastructure that our communities need. We will restore community safety, with tougher bail laws and stronger penalties for repeat offenders, support Victoria Police and invest in mentoring and rehabilitation programs. We will fix Victoria’s crumbling roads, allocating $5 billion to repair and rebuild Victoria’s roads and improve construction standards to build roads that last.

We will make home ownership more affordable by removing stamp duty on new and existing homes up to $1 million for first home buyers, reduce planning delays and lower land taxes. We will scrap the emergency services tax and support our emergency services. We will abolish the GP tax and strengthen our health system by reducing ambulance ramping, cutting hospital wait times and supporting frontline healthcare workers.

A strong economy needs affordable and reliable power, and only our Liberal and Nationals team has a plan to open the door to new conventional gas exploration and ensure Victoria has sufficient firm energy supplies. We will deliver our economic plan to tackle Victoria’s debt and back business to grow our economy. Victoria needs a fresh start, and we are ready to deliver it.
