Anasina GRAY-BARBERIO (Northern Metropolitan) (14:51): (2464) My question is for the Minister for Youth, and the following is a direct quote from a young constituent. She says:
[QUOTE AWAITING VERIFICATION]
Society is absolutely organised by what we invest in our youth. You get what you give, from poverty, racism, exclusion and bullying, unstable housing, youth exposed to violence to overpolicing. The way our current society is taught to talk to and about youth, the way our society continually perpetuates harm and reproduces it in every sector out of pure habit is inherently the root of the problem. If we continue to nurture spaces that our youth do not actively seek out, we are pushing them towards spaces that offer them the security and community they are lacking.
Minister, will you adhere to calls from young people like this constituent and invest in youth-led, community-led spaces where young, multicultural people can belong and thrive in Northern Metro?
