Mrs Ann-Marie Hermans
Meet Ann-Marie
Ann-Marie Hermans is a dedicated advocate for the South Eastern Metropolitan Region in the Victorian Parliament, championing the values of integrity, hard work, and community.
The proud daughter of migrant parents from Sri Lanka and New Zealand, Ann-Marie was raised with strong Liberal values by her father, a church minister, and her mother, a school principal. Growing up alongside her two siblings, she learned the importance of honesty, integrity, community-mindedness, and good old-fashioned hard work.
A long-time resident of the South East, Ann-Marie and her husband, Mark, raised their four children in the local community, where they played sports, studied, volunteered, and built lifelong friendships. As a passionate advocate for families, she believes parents should have the freedom to choose how they raise their children and is committed to ensuring a safe and supportive environment for young Victorians.
With a strong background in education, youth work, small business, and community leadership, Ann-Marie holds multiple qualifications, including two master’s degrees. Before entering Parliament, she led an academic department at one of Australia’s leading all-girls’ schools, Presbyterian Ladies’ College, where she inspired and mentored Australia’s future women leaders.
Elected at the 2022 State Election, Ann-Marie received the highest vote count of any Upper House Liberal candidate in the South East, and was one of only a few first-term, opposition MPs to be promoted to the frontbench in the 60th Parliament. She has held shadow ministerial and shadow assistant ministerial roles across Education, Emergency Services, WorkCover, and TAC, and contributed towards policy development.
As a voice for Victoria’s forgotten people, Ann-Marie is a tireless advocate for her community, fighting for meaningful change and a brighter future for all.
