Adjournment

Dental services

Sonja TERPSTRA

Adjournment

Jaclyn SYMES (Northern Victoria – Minister for Energy and Resources, Minister for Environment, Minister for Climate Action, Minister for the State Electricity Commission) (21:56): I move:

That the house do now adjourn.

Dental services

Sonja TERPSTRA (North-Eastern Metropolitan) (21:56): (2746) My adjournment request this evening is for the Minister for Health. Oral health is fundamental to overall health, yet for too long many in our community have delayed seeing a dentist due to cost-of-living pressures. Our government’s commitment to establishing new public dental clinics and delivering over 100,000 free appointments every year is a game changer for Victorian families, seniors and vulnerable residents. This initiative is a testament to what Labor stands for: lowering daily cost of living while expanding high-quality public health care so that no-one gets left behind. In my electorate local families are thrilled to see our government putting oral health care right where it belongs: in the public health system. The action I seek is for the minister to provide an update on how the Carroll Labor government’s historic $230 million investment in free public dental care will benefit people across the North-Eastern Metropolitan Region.
