Gippsland Climate Change Network

Tom McINTOSH

Gippsland Climate Change Network

Tom McINTOSH (Eastern Victoria) (09:51): I would like to use my members statement to give a shout-out to the Gippsland Climate Change Network for the great work they have been doing. We had the Gippsland New Energy Conference last week, which had 950 attendees from all over the world. We had investors coming in and we had local shires, local businesses, unions, workers and everyone there in community. It is a really fantastic event. It was great to have the Gippsland offshore wind showcase in Parliament coming off the back of the great announcement yesterday from the Minister for Energy and Resources. It is such an exciting time for offshore wind. We are talking tens of billions of dollars of investment, we are talking multigenerational jobs and we are talking powering Victoria with clean electricity, and of course we have heard nothing from the opposition about what they are offering Victorians. Under the Liberal–One Nation alliance, the children of our future will not have the future that they deserve. Under a Liberal–One Nation alliance, power prices will go up. There will be shortages of power because the Liberal–One Nation alliance have no plan for how to power Victoria to deliver the power that we need for our industry, for our homes, for our hospitals, for our schools and for our services. The Liberal–One Nation alliance will say what they are against. They have ideological dreams such as nuclear, which costs hundreds of billions of dollars, and they will not deliver the electricity that we all need to get on with a prosperous future.
