The economic shock resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted Victoria’s reliance on narrow revenue drivers.

What are the trends of the state’s main sources of revenue since the introduction of GST, the last major reform to impact the state? How will the state’s revenue sources be impacted?

The Parliamentary Budget Office has released the public awareness advice, Victorian taxes and revenue: volatility, trends and stability, which assesses the volatility, trends and stability of Victoria's revenue sources and the main drivers of each. If you are interested in taxes and revenue, then this advice will inform your policy choices.

The PBO publishes public awareness advice to support its objective of informing policy development and public debate in parliament and the community. If you would like to stay informed, you can visit the PBO’s website at pbo.vic.gov.au or follow the PBO on Twitter at @pbovic.
