 Trung LUU (Western Metropolitan) (13:03): (2584) My question is for the Minister for Public Transport. Residents in Williamstown and Newport are increasingly concerned about the growing impact of displaced truck traffic travelling along Melbourne Road, Kororoit Creek Road and surrounding local streets. I was recently contacted by residents who described a frightening escalation of traffic conditions over recent months, reporting that from as early as 6 am trucks are travelling through the area using local roads to bypass road tolls and truck restrictions elsewhere. The increased volume of heavy vehicle traffic is contributing to congestion, noise, road deterioration, potholes and significant safety concerns for local residents, pedestrians, cyclists and motorists. Can the minister update my constituents: what action is the Carroll Labor government taking to address the displaced truck traffic in Melbourne’s inner west, particularly in the communities of Williamstown and Newport?
