 Joe McCRACKEN (Western Victoria) (12:59): (2580) My constituency question is to the Minister for Roads and Road Safety, and it again concerns the Western Highway, particularly the patch between Gordon and Ballan. I was driving it yesterday, and it has been reported to me many times that there have been roadworks signs put up. I drove it yesterday. There are no roadworks going on whatsoever. There are big yellow signs. They even have electronic signs saying ‘Road work happening’. They slow you down to 60 k’s an hour. But I will tell you what is happening: absolutely nothing. I will tell you what is there, though: a hell of a lot of potholes. So my question to the minister is: what are you going to do to fix this situation? People are incurring thousands and thousands of dollars of expense just to repair their cars. They are playing dodgem cars every time they get onto the roads. What is actually going to happen to these poor people who put their lives on the line every time they get on the roads? It is a disgrace.
