The Legislative Council has a Privileges Committee which inquires into and reports upon complaints of breach of parliamentary privilege referred to it by resolution of the House. The Privileges Committee is appointed at the start of each Parliament and meets as required.

That, this House - Requires the Privileges Committee to inquire into and report, in relation to those current and former Members of the Legislative Council named in paragraphs 45 to 50 of the Ombudsman’s report, on the following —

a) whether any Members are in contempt of Parliament in relation to the Code of Conduct in the Members of Parliament (Register of Interests) Act 1978;

b) whether any fine should be imposed and the amount to be imposed pursuant to section 9 of the Members of Parliament (Register of Interests) Act 1978;

c) whether the conduct of any current or former Members constitutes any other form of contempt of Parliament and if so, what sanction, if any, should be imposed; and the Committee shall report no later than 19 June 2018.
