Youth parliamentarians advocate for action
11 July 2025

A total of 19 bills have been passed at the 2025 Victorian Youth Parliament held at Parliament House.
They covered a broad range of issues on which young Victorians are calling for action, including mandatory financial literacy education in secondary schools, employment assistance for young people and increased swim safety.
Other bills passed focused on increased access to youth legal support, increased regularity and accessibility of rural public transport, prevention of road animal deaths, increased accessibility of non-car centric transport, and post-school life skills education.
Treasurer Jaclyn Symes received the 19 bills during the closing ceremony, and they will now be sent to the Minister for Youth for consideration.
Ms Symes congratulated and thanked the youth parliamentarians, as did Opposition Leader Brad Battin and Y Australia CEO Alexandra Ash.

This year’s Youth Parliament involved 120 young people from across Victoria.
Following closing remarks from Youth Premier Taihan Rahman, the chamber leaders, and 2025 Youth Governor Lily Trethowan, the baton was passed to the incoming Youth Governor for 2026, Scarlet Lee.
