Parliamentary Library Fellowships announced

2017 fellows Dr Marilyn McMahon from Deakin University and Dr Brian Coffey from RMIT University have been appointed Parliamentary Library Fellows for 2017.

Dr McMahon is Associate Professor (Criminal Law) at the School of Law, Deakin University. Her research topic is: ‘No bail, more jail? Can we protect the community without further increasing the Victorian prison population?’

Dr Coffey is Lecturer (Sustainability and Urban Planning) at the School of Global, Urban and Social Studies, RMIT University. His research topic is: ‘Greening government – mapping the evolution of Victoria’s environment portfolio’.

The Victorian Parliamentary Library Fellowship has been in operation since 2007. It is designed to advance parliamentary and political studies in Victoria. Fellows undertake research based at the Parliamentary Library in Melbourne, where they can access the library’s historic collections and facilities. 

Academics, scholars, PhD students and post-doctoral candidates are provided with an opportunity to engage in public policy, delivering a research paper and seminar on their research to Members of Parliament.
