French senators welcomed to Parliament

A delegation of French senators visiting Victoria has been welcomed to Parliament House.

Senators Daunis, Procaccia, Marie and Dupont attended the sittings of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly, where they were officially acknowledged by the President of the Legislative Council Bruce Atkinson and the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Telmo Languiller.

“From the early days of exploration in the 18th century through the shared sacrifices of two world wars and facing global challenges of the 21st century, Australia and France have enjoyed a strong and enduring friendship,” the Speaker said.

“We welcome our colleagues from the French Senate as our friends and wish them a very successful visit to Victoria.”

During their visit, the senators held discussions with the Minister for Small Business, Innovation and Trade, Philip Dalidakis.

The delegation was accompanied to Parliament House by the deputy head of mission from the French Embassy, Cedric Prieto and consul-general Myriam Boisbouvier-Wylie.
