Suburban residents had their say on apartment living and dwelling design standards at a public hearing.

An inquiry examining apartment design standards in Victoria has been holding public hearings.

The Legislative Assembly Environment and Planning Commitee has been hearing from a range of stakeholders as it considers important matters related to amenity for residents.

Some of the issues that have been identified include building layout and access to open space, windows and ventilation.

Noise impacts, energy efficiency and waste disposal are also front and centre.

The Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute was represented at a public hearing.

The inquiry has received 55 public submissions and is due to table its report to Parliament by 30 June 2022.
