The VEC says 1,906,930 eligible Victorians had already voted in the 2022 state election as of 6pm Thursday 24 November.

One in two eligible Victorian voters are expected to have already cast their ballot before polling booths open on election day.

Thursday 24 November was the busiest day so far with 263,849 early votes and a further 64,940 postal votes returned.

1,906,930 of the 4,394,465 people on the electoral roll have already voted.

The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) has been providing daily updates on state election statistics, including early and postal vote numbers.

There is also key historical data on statewide demographics, voter participation and rates of informal voting.

The number of candidates has nearly tripled over the last 30 years, from 444 in 1992 to an all-time high 1194 in 2022.

While some results could be clear, none will be officially declared by the VEC on election night.

You can watch VEC Deputy Commissioner Dana Fleming provide an insight into the process.
