Inaugural speeches usher in new year

Parliament Mosaic in Vestibule

New parliamentarians will get the chance to deliver their inaugural speeches when the Victorian Parliament begins its 2015 sittings on 10 February.

Our latest news video looks at some of the inaugural speeches delivered on opening day of the 58th Parliament.

Usually inaugural speeches are made as part of the Address-in-Reply debate, which responds to the Governor’s speech at the opening of parliament.

The full text of inaugural speeches can be read in Hansard.
