Mr MERLINO (Monbulk—Minister for Education):

I can advise that the Department of Education and Training has comprehensive procedures for dealing with the misconduct and unsatisfactory performance of its employees and any allegations that members of the teaching service are acting inconsistently with their obligations to students and to their employer are managed consistent with those procedures.

Critical discussion with students about important political issues is encouraged and should be undertaken in accordance with curriculum objectives and with the support of school leaders.
